Genshin Impact, are not allowed to type in its in game chat

buy Genshin Impact Account Genshin Impact is a free-to-play RPG from Chinese developer miHoYo that a lot of people seem to love. A week after its release players are discovering some of its subtleties such as the byzantine nature of its microtransactions and more recently what you are and aren't allowed to type in its in-game chat.

Genshin Impact is from Chinese developer miHoYo and as such must comply with the country's laws and regulations that govern video game content. As Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad states Genshin Impact Account online all Chinese games censor phrases such as Taiwan and Hong Kong in order to comply with a list of banned words that cannot be used in game or via chat.

As Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad points out on Twitter it's pretty unsurprising that discussions about Taiwan and Hong Kong would be discouraged with a chat filter this being a Chinese game. Linking to a $4,000 report from Niko Partners designed to aid games publishers towards launches in China Ahmad points out that "Chinese-developed games have to comply with a ton of content and in-game censorship rules". He also points out that a list of banned words exists.

Meanwhile recent reports suggest a conflict is brewing between China and Taiwan with The LA Times reporting the former has been displaying military force over the latter such as sending dozens of Chinese warplanes near its airspace.

The obvious solution would be for miHoYo to create a global version of Genshin Impact that does not include such censorship but as Ahmad points out "it's not always that simple for Chinese devs specifically."
